Remembrance Day 2022

The Maritime memorial service was held on shore at Roche Point in Cates Park on 11 November, 2022. However, the Tsle Wahtuth nation held it’s private ceremony earlier on 8th November at this park. Since the end of First World War, on this day, members of the armed forces are remembered who died in the line of duty. The ceremony commenced early at 10.15 am with the singing of ‘O Canada ” by the North shore kids choir. Rest of the ceremony, including firing of the canon and observing a two minutes silence took place on boat in the Burrard inlet and was accompanied by instrumentalists and different singers. Also different pianists played various numbers accompanied by Trumpeter and vocalists., organized on vessels by the Burrard Yacht club. Other than a dozen vessels, the rest of the public participated across the shore by observing the ceremony at the park. After the singing, prayers, hymn, poems and blessing, the crowd gathered by the memorial where different members of the legion and members of the public placed the wreath and poppies round it. More than few hundred residents attended the ceremony that finished under an hour.
