Home for Cooperation in Nicosia, Cyprus hosted AHRD`s Ivy Series, a name inspired by an actual ivy plant in the library, the series comprised of talks, readings, quizzes, and walks, encouraging lifelong learning and networking.
The event was also co-hosted by the High Commission of India in Cyprus and the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research in collaboration with the Home Café and the Home for Cooperation.
Professor Stephanos Stephanides, gave a roundtable informal talk on Modern Indian Literature Beyond the Post-Colonial with an introduction of an overview of some of the characteristics of Indian literature, highlighting some of the important trends both in Anglophone literature and literature in other languages. including Indian.
Adding to the event was also a photo exhibition of the life of Mahatma Gandhi, with photos plastered around the cafe library turned into a south Asian artsy venue with members of the Indian diaspora, somewhat short of three dozen in attendance, at what was a tough venue to attend, at the tail end of the Cyprus border and without much parking. This was one of the last events held at the end of what was a full-day program by the Indian commission, albeit poorly promoted. The new High Commissioner Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat was also unable to attend due to bad health but had staff of her commission present.
Ozge Ozogoul, ADHR Operations Officer represented the Home for Cooperation acting as the MC, introducing the speaker Professor Stephanos Stephanides and finally giving a vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
